Producer Jesse Kitten on......
Ron Hall
My association with Ron Hall goes back to 1993. I visited
Hong Kong in 1992 to scout locations for a film I was developing titled:
Enter...the Afro. I previously worked with the late great actor Steve
James (American Ninja) on Robert Townsend's film "Hollywood Shuffle"
and he referred me to martial artist/actor Ken Goodman, whom I met while
in Hong Kong. Ken suggested I contact Ron Hall, who at the time was
screening a film he appeared in titled: "Triple Impact". He
showed me an action scene from the film in which his character was ironically
named "Blade". The power of this fight sequence was startling,
and the dominance of his onscreen persona quite obvious. I realized
what was in store for this young man and immediately cast him in Enter...the
Afro.
It has been a pleasure watching him grow as an artist
and person. He is truly skilled, informed, and passionate about martial
arts and action cinema. I was lucky to have his expertise available
for " ETA", and the best fights are those he choreographed.
At his suggestion, I re-edited the film from 50 minutes to 23. It subsequently
won an online award! (Communities.com 2000 online short film festival
20-30 minutes). We also co-wrote a script titled: "Fighting Chance"
and developed several other films including: "The Slow Die Fast"
and "Don't Ask For Trouble".
Ron Hall has worked hard and overcome tremendous obstacles
to complete "Vampire Assassin" and position himself at the
forefront of New Wave action film stars/directors.
It is richly deserved.
